About the Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead Designer to join our high-end residential interior design firm. The Lead Designer will play a key role in overseeing design projects from concept to completion, ensuring exceptional quality and client satisfaction. This position requires someone who can balance creative vision with project management, delivering on both the aesthetic and functional goals of each project.

Responsibilities:

  • Design Leadership: Lead the design process through the creation of as-built, conceptual, and schematic design, construction documents, and all project documentation. Work closely with the principal to conceptualize designs that satisfy the functional and aesthetical goals of the project.

  • Project Management: Efficiently measure on-site and transcribe details to drawings. Create and manage comprehensive project schedules, maintain project budgets, and reconcile financial documents such as invoices and purchase orders. Essential to this role is the capacity to concurrently manage multiple projects with accuracy and efficiency.

  • Client Interaction: Offer a standout experience for clients through showroom visits, sample provisions, and ongoing resource support. Prioritize client engagement and satisfaction through all phases of the design and build process.

  • Technical Proficiency and Innovation: Submit all required documents for permitting, handle submissions to contractors and subcontractors for bidding, and oversee the procurement process. Stay abreast of the latest design trends, materials, and technologies.

  • Site Coordination: Conduct trade walkthroughs, site visits, and organize progress meetings with homeowners, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure project alignment and resolve any emerging issues.

  • Regulatory and Creative Problem Solving: Research local zoning laws, environmental constraints, and code requirements. Creatively solve spatial challenges while adhering to local and national code requirements and industry recommendations.

  • Administrative Excellence: Keep meticulous records of design hours, receipts, meeting minutes, and expenses. Ensure all paperwork is complete and organized, including the collection of payments.


Requirements:

  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years in interior design or architectural fields.

  • Technical Skills: Must be fluent in AutoCAD. Proficiency in SketchUp preferred; familiarity with Revit and Chief Architect is advantageous.

  • Graphic Design: Skills in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) are highly desirable.

  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, eagerness to learn, positive attitude, and a good sense of humor (a must!)
